Michael Owen called me in August 2006 to ask if I would be able to help him get fit after his Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction. Michael had travelled to Richard Steadman for his operation where a donor ligament was used. I finally started work with Michael in January 2007.

Michael was totally committed to the whole process, day after day we left Newcastle Uniteds training ground in the dark, with everyone else having left hours before!

Michael had asked me to consider rehabilitating the whole of him and not just his knee - I replied that is the case for all my patients.

We worked together twice a day,  6 days a week for 5 months, Michael played his first game away to Reading. The following season, Michael and I continued to work together 2 days per week.

As part of Michaels rehab we travelled to Vale Do Lobo in Portugal to utilise the soft sand for resistance running - you cn see some of our sessions in the 'Vale Do Lobo' section of this website.

Michael went on to play over 30 games that season, which culminated in him signing for Manchester United.
