Despite an amazing performance during the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympics - Akram almost didn't make it!
Five months prior to the Olympics, Akram ruptured his achilles tendon.
James Calder repaired the achilles and Akram and I set about gaining his full recovery.
Danny Boyle was extremely concerned because Akram would be accompanied by 50 dancers, as Emile Sande sang "Abide with Me".
Needless to say that Akrams rehabilitation was completed weeks ahead of schedule - which is testimony to his full dedication to the process.
Akram is one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to work with.
